A Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Festive Festivus and jolly New Year to all. It is the season to be merry and for your continued convenience, your Red Feather Lakes Community Library retains regular hours through the season, excepting only closing at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and all of Christmas Day, Dec. 25, allowing library staff to enjoy the holidays. We’re closed as well New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Otherwise, the standard and usual library hours apply: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. seven days a week (though frequently the door is open at 9 a.m. or a little after.) Chances are that 9 a.m.–5 p.m. will become official in the spring. Let us know if 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily works better for you. That’s under consideration as well.
However, other library services remain 24/7. That ranges from our materials drop boxes at Glacier View Gate 8 and the library, allowing you to return materials anytime – to checking out an e-Book or e-Audio Book anytime by downloading an OverDrive or Cloud Library title to your computer or device.

Winter weather sometimes makes travel and communication problematic. As this was written both phone and Internet service had been down for six hours here — but we’re open for service in the first muck and maw snowstorm of the season.
Usually, every winter there’s a day — or two — here in the mountains when heavy snowfall or other hazardous travel condition make staying home a safety issue, both for you and library staff. When that happens we’ll close the library. If you suspect that’s the case, give us a call at 970-881-2664. If we’re closed, we’ll have a message to that effect through the phone system. Or you can check the library website at redfeatherlibrary.org. We’ll have both a home-page closure notice and an expected time of re-opening. Individuals subscribing to our announcement list will receive a timely closure message as well.
Otherwise, this season the Greening of Red Feather is coming up, Dec. 3 and 4, held again at Chapel in the Pines (23947 West County Road 74E). On Sat. Dec. 3, we’ll celebrate the Greening here at the library with a children’s make-it-yourself crafts table (noon to 5 p.m.) and our annual visit by Santa, non to 2 p.m. Children, parents and everyone else is welcome.
On Dec. 14 you’re invited to attend the public hearing for the 2016 amended budget (9 a.m.) and the proposed 2017 library budget (9:30 a.m.). Held at the library, 71 Firehouse Lane, Red Feather Lakes.
Movie nights: 6 p.m. Dec. 3 and 10. Check out our calendar at redfeatherlibrary.org for more information.
