“No shovel, no skate,” the slogan of the Ft. Collins Pond Hockey League, certainly came into play this weekend at the 6th annual Beaver Cup Pond Hockey tournament at Beaver Meadows Resort Ranch in Red Feather Lakes. With about 30 inches of snow, team members had their work cut out for them.
The question was “How fast can 120 hockey players shovel?” We found out!! The ponds were cleared in time for Friday’s games. And the tournament continues today, with the final championship round on Feb. 5, ending at 2 p.m. The Beaver Cup Tournament is the second largest pond hockey tournament in Colorado.
Pond hockey is considered hockey in its most pure form — played outside in the elements where it belongs. Call 970-881-2450 or visit www.BeaverMeadows.com for more information.
