Registration now open for fifth annual CSU Ram Bicycle Classic held on Sept. 22

Hundreds of cycling enthusiasts will be pedaling for sustainability education programs and initiatives in the fifth annual CSU Ram Bicycle Classic Sunday, Sept. 22. The event is a non-competitive, scenic bicycle tour of Larimer County and is open to all ages and ability levels.

The Classic offers four rides to choose from including an 11-mile family fun ride and 35-mile, 65-mile and 100-mile rides.

Registration includes a ride t-shirt and post-ride festivities including a complimentary lunch, beer garden with two free beers for riders 21 and up, live music, a bike expo and a chance to win a new bamboo road bike. The family-friendly event also will include a kid’s bike rodeo and bike safety clinic from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

About the Courses
All rides start and end at the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins with the first ride beginning at 7:30 a.m. The fully-supported ride will provide multiple aid stations on each route fully equipped with food, water and restrooms, as well as mechanical and first-aid support provided along all the routes.

• 100-mile century ride – challenging. This ride climbs to Masonville and Carter Lake in Loveland before coming back around Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, then north on relatively flat roads to Owl Canyon and then finishing at CSU.
• 65-mile ride – challenging. This ride offers the same hilly south roads as the century ride, but without Horsetooth Reservoir and Owl Canyon.
• 35-mile half-metric ride – moderate. North to Owl Canyon road on a relatively flat route and then looping back to CSU.
• 11-mile Family Fun Ride – easy. This is a flat ride, winding along the beautiful bicycle paths on the Poudre River and Spring Creek bike trails around Fort Collins.

Riders are encouraged to register early as prices for adult registration received after Aug. 31 will be $10 more.

Team discount pricing is available for four or more riders for longer rides, and there are a variety of family discount packages for the 11-mile ride.

Proceeds from the one-day event will support scholarships and projects for sustainability education, research and outreach initiatives at CSU, including Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise program; the School of Global and Environmental Sustainability; the Institute for the Built Environment and the Conservation Leadership Masters program.
