Roamin' the Range-June 2015

Here we go, into the wonderful summer months where outdoors is the place to be! Enjoy the warm weather, festivals, and wealth of entertainment options available for special evenings out along the Front Range.

The Colorado Brewers’ Festival is scheduled for June 26-28 in downtown Fort Collins. Free admission, 100-plus beers and live music will be featured. On June 27, you can start your morning with Breakfast and Brews at the Mainline, 125 S. College in downtown Fort Collins, where a “plate lickin’ breakfast with beer” is on tap.

Dance is alive and thriving at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins. Contemporary Dance Academy presents Our Little Stars on May 30, Canyon Concert Ballet offers Four Seasons of Dance May 30 and 31. The Contemporary Dance Academy is staging the Wizard of Oz on June 1. Studio West Dance Center celebrates its award-winning 2014-15 season ensemble pieces on June 12. Dancers ages 4-18 have performed across the state and many will “go national” this summer. On June 13, Studio West Dance Center will perform Passages — ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz and contemporary. Shows will be held at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Open Stage Theatre Company’s production of The Servant of Two Masters debuts May 30 and runs through June 27 at the Lincoln Center. It could be well worth your while to check out Open Stage’s season package consisting of 10 admissions priced at $180 instead of $250 value. Take the family!

The Larimer Chorale performs Beyond … Light: Heartstrings at 7:30 p.m. on May 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart St. in Fort Collins. Members of the chorale and their sister choir, Voices West, will tour Germany and Poland for two weeks in June. The concert is a preview of their European concert tour performances. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Lincoln Center. Call 970-221-6730 for complimentary tickets for children 8 and under.

Looking ahead a little, the Lincoln Center Support League will present the 101st Army Concert Band, in a free concert of patriotic music for the public, veterans and their families and current members of the military on Sunday, July 5. All seating is reserved. Limit four tickets per person. Ticket giveaway began May 16, but check with the Lincoln Center Box Office at 970-221-6730 to see if tickets are still available.

How’s about a free Youth Fishing Fest? Kids can wet a line June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Canyon Lakes Ranger District, Roosevelt National Forest, West Lake day-use area off Red Feather Lakes Road (CR-74E), approximately 22 miles from Highway 287. Turn right onto Dowdy Lake Road. In an effort to educate kids about the wonderful world of fishing, participants 15 and under will receive a free fishing pole and fun-filled fishing lesson. Check in at 8 a.m. Space is limited. Bring water, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, fishing gear for adults and a cooler to keep your catch. Here’s a quick round up of what’s playing at local venues. Midtown Arts Center, 3750 S. Mason St. in Fort Collins: Oklahoma, a jewel of American musical theater, opens June 5 when the 2015-16 season will be announced and runs through Aug. 29. Tickets are available online or by calling 970-225- 2555 Tuesday through Saturday.

Bas Bleu Theatre, 401 Pine St. in Fort Collins is playing Side Man through June 28, a comedic and tender story about the memories of a jazz side man. Peter and Will Andersen Trio, May 31, 7:30 p.m. and the Comedy Brewers are coming June 7 through July 10. Call for tickets: 970-498-8949 Tuesday through Friday from 12:30-5:30 p.m.
