In cooperation with the City of Greeley, the U.S. Forest Service is proposing soil stabilization and revegetation work in areas burned by the 2012 Hewlett Fire to reduce erosion into Seaman Reservoir and protect the public water supply.
The proposed project would be broken into two phases, with the first phase to be implemented as soon as summer 2015. In Phase 1, floodplain and in-channel structures would be installed, and streambank and delta areas would be revegetated with native plant materials. Phase 2 of the project would be implemented within the unnamed tributary above the reservoir and work could include installation of grade-control structures, bank stabilization and revegetation within the stream channel. Source materials for project activities would be derived from various locations surrounding the reservoir, including from national forest system lands. All activities would be implemented by hand and no mechanical equipment would be used.

This proposal is currently in the public scoping phase. It is being analyzed using a categorical exclusion, so not appealable or objectionable.
