Staff on the Pawnee National Grassland is recruiting volunteers to help pull weeds for annual maintenance at the Baker Draw Designated Shooting Area on June 29. The shooting area will be temporarily closed from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. that day.
Weed treatments done earlier this year at the site were successful and this weed pull event will help reinforce those efforts in a different area of the site. Volunteers will be hand pulling and digging out weeds then bagging them from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Following pulling, staff will do some herbicide treatment as well.
Volunteers need to where long sleeves and pants, boots, gloves and sunscreen and be sure to bring plenty of water as it can get hot on the grassland. If you would like to volunteer, please RSVP to Stephanie Bar at [email protected].
