By now, the name Von Stomper should be familiar to fans of the Northern Colorado music scene. If not, now is the chance to jump aboard. Somehow, the name itself implies something of the sound; rollicking and boisterous, lyrically provoking or picturesque. For those familiar with the band, and even for those not, listening to Américado with eyes closed recreates that itch for a live show, conjuring scenes of dance floors wet with perspiration, raw energy and that irresistible magnetism of Von Stomper. Américado is itself an image of the West, underlined by outlaw lore (“The Ballad of River Rat Johnny”), lust (“Bow Legged Woman”) and of course, throw-your-head-back harmonica wails. Don’t skip Américado and don’t skip out on any live Von Stomper; it would only be blasphemous.
