It was hot time at the Western Ridge Resort in Glacier View Meadows on Jan. 24, as cooks got all fired up for the annual Chili Cookoff, a benefit for the Glacier View Fire Department. Twenty one entries featured an astonishing variety of recipes ranging from meek and mild to as fiery as the summer of 2012.
Side dishes provided by Western Ridge included green chili sopapillas, a creamy queso, corn bread and chips. The event raised $585 for the fire department and the winners are as follows:
Best Overall: 1st place, Max Beaver; 2nd place, Rick Black.
Most Unique: 1st place, Phyliss Field; 2nd place, Linda Sunday.
People’s Choice: 1st place, Carol Campion; 2nd place, Joyce Wonenberg.
A good time and a bellyache was had by all. As one of the participants enthusiastically explained, “It was a gas!”
