Publisher’s Letter: Give to Support North Forty News as We Cover the COVID-19 Crisis in Our Communities.

By Blaine Howerton, Publisher
North Forty News

During this unprecedented pandemic, North Forty News is making health-related news, both online and in print, free to readers throughout Northern Colorado. But that news is not free to us.

More urgently than ever, every day our team is out in this community gathering and delivering critical news — news that keeps you informed, news to help ensure your safety. We’re working hard for our community at a time when this pandemic has shut down our local economy, wiping out our advertising revenue. Under extreme financial duress, as a public service to the communities we serve, our team at North Forty News is busy finding new ways to provide important local news and health-related information. And we have evidence that our hard work matters — in just one month, visits to our website have doubled.

In addition to original reporting, we present communications from various levels of local and state governments, that might otherwise be missed by our readers if we did not present the information in an easy to access format. And due to COVID-19, these communications are going out far more often than in more usual times.

To our many subscribers, thank you for your support. But in light of our loss of ad revenue, we are now also asking subscribers and non-subscribers, alike, to consider making tax-deductible donations through a special 501 (3) (c) fund earmarked for our coverage of this ongoing health crisis.

If you believe local, trusted information is critical, especially during these unsettling times, please donate to help keep us working on your behalf. Contributions to this fund will help pay for news resources to cover the impact of COVID-19 in Northern Colorado, sharing information on the trend in positive cases, testing sites, businesses closures (and of course, re-openings), the impact to our students and to all of us during the state Stay-at-Home and Safer-at-Home orders.

As your locally-owned weekly newspaper, we’ve got your back — and we hope you have ours!

Thank you for your support of North Forty News at this critical time.
