Fort Collins Museum of Discovery has its doors wide open! Take a look at what this very special museum is offering to the community. For additional details click on “Explore” at fmod.org. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission is $9.50 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, $6 for juniors, and free for children 2 and under and for those who have purchased a membership.
Here’s a sampling of on-going activities at FCMoD: “Take Apart Day” between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month. A chance to satisfy your curiosity and take apart computers, VCRs and learn a thing or two about how machines work. Free with museum admission.
Between 10 a.m. and noon on the fourth Saturday of each month you can try out a musical instrument and discover which one suits you. When the month has a fifth Saturday, take a chance and find out what surprise the museum has in store for Surprise Saturday. Every Saturday at 2:30 p.m. come and watch the museum’s black-footed ferrets devour their weekend meal.
Second and fourth Sundays you can see demonstrations in the Innovation Lab on the half hour between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month indulge your love of history and discover how the quirky goings-on of the past have shaped the present and directed the future. Every Sunday 11 a.m. until noon visit the Reactable Room in the Music and Sound Lab for expert guidance and see if you can get the club jumpin’.
In May, you can check out International Migratory Bird Day on the 10th, learn about types of gardens and natural dyes at the Heritage Courtyard in Library Park, southwest corner of Mathews and Olive streets. Between 1 and 4 p.m.
Endangered Species Day features the museum’s ferrets on May 16 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Satisfy your crafting curiosity 2- 4:30 p.m. with a program on Fiber Friends. $25. registration required.

Colorado State University presents an evening with author Elizabeth L. Silver, author of “The Execution of Noa P. Singleton,” 7-9 p.m. Hilton Hotel Ballroom, 425 W. Prospect Road, Free, no ticket required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. First come, first served.
Noa P. Singleton speaks not a word in her own defense during a trial that finds her guilty of first-degree murder. Ten years later, on death row, six-months away from her execution date, she is visited by the high-powered attorney whose daughter she was imprisoned for killing. She tells Noa she’s changed her mind about the death sentence and will do everything in her power to get her sentence commuted to life in prison if she’ll reveal what led her to commit the crime. The two women become linked through the law, shared sentiments of guilt, and irreversible mistakes in this novel of love, anguish and deception.
Silver’s talk is part of a free author series presented by Friends of the CSU Libraries and Poudre River Friends of the Library. Supported by Fort Collins Fort Fund, KUNC Radio, the Hilton Hotel and Old Firehouse Bookstore.
The Colorado State University Symphony Orchestra presents a concert, “The Power of Bruckner,” at the Griffin Concert Hall, University Center for the Arts, 1400 Remington St., Fort Collins 7:30 p.m., April 29 and 30.
