Reception Slated for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers

By Leisa Taylor

Returned Peace Corps Volunteers are cordially invited to a reception in their honor at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. With the theme “Highlighting Host Homes,” attendees will exchange stories and share experiences on Friday, March 2, from 5-7 pm. March 2 is also First Friday Gallery Walk, with half-price admission to the Museum from 6-9 pm.

The 2018 Peace Corps Week runs from Feb. 25 to March 3. This annual event commemorates President John F. Kennedy’s establishment of the Peace Corps on March 1, 1961. The mission of the RPCV of Colorado is to connect returned volunteers to one another, to their local community, and to the world for continued services, outreach, and support.

“We are asking attendees to bring a memento and a story to share with the group about their Peace Corps host family,” said Erin Cubley, Peace Corps Representative for Colorado State University. Volunteers who plan to attend should RSVP to Cubley at peacecorps@colostate.edu. For more information, Cubley can be reached at 315-854-4958.

The Global Village Museum is located at 200 West Mountain Ave. Regular Museum hours are 11-5 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
