Surrounded by his family, Harry Fletcher, 80, passed away at home on Nov. 21, 2014, following complications due to cancer.
He was born in Mason City, Illinois on August 18, 1934 to H. Dillard and Leona Fletcher. He attended schools in Mason City and Easton, Illinois and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1955.
Harry married Carole Rabbe on Aug. 18, 1961. They resided most of their married lives in Normal, Illinois where Harry worked as a pipefitter at Illinois State University. They moved to Wellington in 2002 to be near children and grandchildren in Fort Collins; Brien Fletcher, Lori Fletcher-Khouri (Paul), and Mitchell, Matthew and Benjamin Khouri.
Harry made friends wherever he went and treasured them all. He had a marvelous sense of humor and a strong love of life. Sports were a special interest, notably the Cubs, Bears, Illini, Nascar and golfing with friends.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Wilma Smith and June Elmore. Besides his immediate family, he is survived by siblings, Joyce Schoonover, Joanne Steen, Jim Fletcher; numerous nieces in nephews. Harry will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Services were held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Fort Collins on Monday, Dec. 1. A Celebration of Life to be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Illinois at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Times Past Inn.
