William V. “Bill” Thompson passed away July 3, 2011. He was born in Raton, N.M. to Ottowa C. and Edith Rauch Thompson.
Bill moved to Fort Collins in 1946 with his brother, Hartzell “Slim” Thompson and sister-in-law, Mary Ann. They established Thompson Repair Shop on North College. Later he worked for Ghent Motor Company before opening Bill Thompson Automotive. After retiring, he and his wife Cathy opened LaPorte Hardware.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cathy; sons, Tom, Lee (Kris), Bill (Fran); daughter Cynthia Young (Bob) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hartzell, O.J.; sister, Enola Fox and granddaughter, Cherish Thompson.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
