Adopt-a-hen at Grant Farms on Jan. 18 and 19

Teresa Redmond-Ott sent this info regarding feed donation and adopting Grant Family Farms hens:

GRANT FARMS HEN AGAIN ADOPTION PROGRAM
Hen adoptions will be taking place at GRANT FARMS this weekend only. Grant Farms is located in Wellington. From Denver I-25 northbound, take the Owl Canyon Road exit and head west, then right at CR 15. Follow the signs.

Friday, January 18: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saturday, January 19: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Adoption Fees:
1 hen – $8
3 hens – $21
6 hens – $36
Breed: Bovan
Age: Aprox. 18 months old
Purpose: Egg layers ONLY. Not for meat.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DONATING FEED, PLEASE PURCHASE LAYER FEED UNDER “SIX DOG ACCOUNT” AT RANCH-WAY FEED OR YOU CAN TAKE FEED DIRECTLY TO THE FARM.

Fees collected for adopting the hens will go directly to the purchase of more feed for the remaining hens awaiting adoption.

  1. Hello, I am requesting more info. about your program. How long do you “estimate” the hens will be reasonable egg layers? Is there a limit to number of adaptees? Are any health vaccinations needed? Do they need to be reported to Larimer County or City of Fort Collins? Besides using chickens for egglayers are there requirments for those adopting hens? Can you sell their eggs? If they get loose will the humane society help me to locate them?
