Eligible residents who are interested in running for the Health District of Northern Larimer County board of directors can file for candidacy until March 2. The election for the board candidates will take place May 8.
Candidates in this election will vie for two seats on the Health District board. Each position has a four-year term.
The Health District is a special district that provides dental, mental health, prescription assistance and health promotion services to residents of northern Larimer County. It is
governed by a five-person board of directors whose members are elected at-large from the community.
The district encompasses the northern two-thirds of Larimer County and includes the cities of Fort Collins, Timnath, Wellington, LaPorte, Livermore and Red Feather Lakes.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens 18 years or older and be registered to vote in Colorado. In addition, they must be residents of the district for not less than 30 days. Non-residents may be candidates if they or their spouse own property within the district.
Candidate self-nomination forms must be returned to the Health District by 5 p.m. on March 2.
To run as a write-in candidate, a person must submit a write-in candidate affidavit of intent by 5 p.m. on March 5.
Both forms can be picked up Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Health District, 120 Bristlecone Drive, Fort Collins. Forms also can be downloaded at www.healthdistrict.org/election.
Voting in the May 8 election will take place at two polling places (Health District offices
and Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 4501 S. Lemay Ave.) or by mail-in ballot.
The last day to register to vote in this election is April 9.
