Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods partners with Grant Farms CSA

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods announced May 16 that it’s launched a new fundraiser with Grant Farms CSA to bring fresh local CSA shares to Denver.

CHUN has been a staple in the Denver community for decades, building bridges and community around a thriving city. Through the help of wonderful local food advocates this Colorado nonprofit has signed up to pose the question: Who’s your Farmer? CHUN and the Grant family have shared a special relationship participating heavily together in the Local’s First Campaign led by the Mile High Business Alliance in years past.

Members will be able to pick up their farm shares this year from the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods located at 1290 Williams Ave. and connect with the organization in a fun way every Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 7 p.m. A percentage of all shares purchased through CHUN2016 code will be donated back to the organization to bolster programs like the People’s Fair and other member oriented programs.

Grant Farms has been a Colorado community staple for decades advocating for healthier food options for Colorado residents since Andy Grant’s youth at CSU. Learning from his father, Lewis Grant, how to run a large scale wholesale farm, he decided to research organic practices after his family dog passed away after eating a bunch of grasshoppers sprayed with pesticides. Andy Grant was the first farm owner to have his operation organically certified by the State of Colorado in the 1980s and he remains a staunch advocate of non-GMO organic practices for all 25 farms that participate in the CSA.
