Firewood permits are now available south of Red Feather Lakes along sections of the Manhattan Road (Larimer County Road #69).
Cost for firewood permits is $20 a cord and must be used within three weeks of purchase. A cord is approximately 4’ by 4’ by 8’ or two pickup loads full. Visitors must purchase permits that include a map at the Visitor Information Center located at 2150 Centre Ave., Building E, before heading up. The Information Center is open Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed Wednesdays). It is always a good idea to call ahead at 970-295-6770 to ensure you can purchase your permit.
Permits will be sold as conditions allow. The road is gravel; however, the area may still receive snow this spring. Please use extreme caution when driving on Forest Service Roads and consider recent weather conditions in the mountains.
