Fort Collins Music eXperiment announces lineup for April 19 and 20 music festival

The Fort Collins Musicians Association is releasing the lineup for its fifth annual Fort Collins Music eXperiment, a local music festival taking place April 19 and 20.

FoCoMX focuses the spotlight on more than 200 Northern Colorado bands, artists and DJs at 20 venues all over Fort Collins. The Friday thru Saturday festival presents a wide array of music genres and is expected to draw an eclectic, all-ages crowd of more than 6,000 attendees over the two days. Music lovers can buy wristbands through April 7 only at www.FoCoMX.org, and then also at Rock ‘n’ Robins in Fort Collins.

Celebrating five years as the a festival showcasing regional and national talent, the FoCoMX 2013 lineup is sure to make plenty of music fans happy with the lineup featuring Chad Price of Drag the River and ALL, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Fierce Bad Rabbit, The Holler!, Johnny Hickman from Cracker, 3 Twins, featuring members of The Subdudes, and a special live production by Dead Floyd. Musketeer Gripweed will have their CD release at FoCoMX on April 20 at the Aggie Theater.

“Last year we had over 300 bands playing at 30+ venues. It was amazing but overwhelming at the same time,” said FoCoMA co-founder and resident Greta Cornett. “Being the fifth year of FoCOMX, we wanted to focus on quality over quantity this year. FoCoMX offers an opportunity for music lovers to celebrate and enjoy the amazing talent of our local artists and hopefully they have a few new favorite local bands after the festival is over.”

FoCoMX is a volunteer-run festival and offers a variety of opportunities for individuals to get involved. In addition to enjoying great music and connecting with the community, volunteers who contribute four hours of time or more will receive a free festival wristband for the entire weekend. More information and to sign up to volunteer is available at www.focomx.focoma.org/volunteer

What started as an experiment featuring a few bands the first year has grown in its fifth year — garnering national attention and earning it the unofficial title of “The Biggest Little Festival in America.” The event is presented by the nonprofit Fort Collins Musicians Association, whose mission is to provide education, support and networking opportunities for the Fort Collins and greater Northern Colorado music community.

In addition to live music, FoCoMX 2013 will feature musician education panels, children’s workshops, comedian emcees at some venues and more. Free bus transportation between the downtown and campus west venue areas will be available to help fans pack in as much music as possible.

Pre-sale weekend wristbands for the 2013 festival are available online at www.FoCoMX.org for only $20. On April 7, the price will increase to $30.
