Free and low-cost vaccinations for cats and dogs will be available throughout Larimer County from 9 a.m. to noon on Sat., Sept. 29.
Last May, terrestrial rabies entered populated areas of Larimer County for the first time ever. Since then, the numbers of animals infected with the disease continues to grow. Larimer Humane Society, Larimer County Veterinary Medical Association and local veterinary clinics have united to organize this community-wide rabies vaccination day to help protect local pets. Free vaccines and supplies were provided by American Veterinary Medical Association, Boehringer Ingelheim and Merck Animal Health.
People can bring their cats and dogs to one of the satellite locations in Larimer County for a free rabies vaccination. Veterinarians onsite will do a brief health check and administer vaccines. Volunteers will provide the necessary paperwork and offer pet licenses, when applicable.
