Human remains were found today in the ashes of a destroyed residence located at 9123 Old Flowers Road, Bellvue. The remains are believed to be those of 62-year-old Linda Steadman, the resident.
On June 9, the residence at 9123 Old Flowers Road was notified by emergency notification at 1:27 p.m. to evacuate the area immediately. The call was answered by an automatic answering machine. Deputies along with Larimer County Emergency Services personnel began a door-to-door notification as well. Due to a locked gate and the intensity of the fire the residence could not be reached.
Several hours later, the family of Linda Steadman contacted the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and reported that they could not confirm her whereabouts. On June 10, deputies went to the address and discovered the residence had been destroyed but were unable to access the immediate area as the ashes were still too hot to look through.
Today, investigators from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Larimer County Coroner and an Emergency Services engine crew were able to reach the residence and begin searching. Subsequently the human remains were found.
