Larimer County Commissioners seek applications for Clerk & Recorder

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners is seeking applications for the position of Larimer County Clerk & Recorder. Applications are available at larimer.org/hot/post/application_form.cfm, with a deadline of close of business on Wednesday, April 24 to apply.

The job announcement and criteria for the position are posted on the County’s web site at larimer.org/hot/post/Clerk_Recorder_DRAFT_Posting.pdf (PDF).

The Larimer County Clerk & Recorder is an elected position and will be open May 3 when current Clerk & Recorder Scott Doyle retires. Doyle is in his third four-year term as Clerk & Recorder and the current term runs through December 31, 2014. Doyle’s tenure with Larimer County began in 1995, and he was Chief Deputy Clerk and Recorder from October 2000 until first being elected Clerk and Recorder in November 2002. He was reelected to a second term as Clerk and Recorder in November 2006 and a third term in 2010.

Counties follow State statutes in replacing elected positions. Once the application process is closed, the applications will be screened and finalists will be interviewed. The Board will be joined by the Executive Director of the Colorado County Clerk’s Association and former Colorado Secretary of State, Donetta Davidson.

“State statute does not set qualifications for the post”, said County Manager Linda Hoffmann, who added, “We’re looking for someone with experience in managing elections, recording real estate documents, and processing motor vehicle registrations. This persona also needs to live in Larimer County.”

The Commissioners expect to be ready to appoint a new Clerk & Recorder shortly after Doyle leaves office. Doyle has appointed an acting deputy clerk to take over between his departure and the arrival of a new Clerk & Recorder.

Please contact the Commissioners Office for further information, 970-498-7010.
