Larimer County Sheriff's Mounted Posse donates $500 to Food Bank for Larimer County

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse presented the Food Bank for Larimer County with a $500 donation this week which is the equivalent of 2,000 meals.

Each year the posse selects one non-profit organization in Larimer County to receive money they have raised throughout the year at various events.

The Food Bank for Larimer County provides food for all in need through community partnerships and hunger relief programs. The food bank accepts direct food donations as well as offering many volunteer opportunities.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse is a volunteer group of men and women who donate their time, law enforcement training and horsemanship to assist the Sheriff’s office in serving the citizens of Larimer County. They help provide security at various events, crime scenes and for visiting dignitaries, assist in search and rescue, and help with response to natural disasters, fires and evacuations.

While records show that posses have been used to cover Larimer County since the 1880’s, the current posse was organized in 1956 and has continually served the citizens of Larimer County since then.
