Larimer County SWAT responds to Wellington standoff

At about 9:30 a.m. this morning Larimer County deputies responded to the 8300 block of 1st Street in Wellington to serve warrants for the arrest of Benjamin Noel of Wellington. Noel was wanted for two warrants relating to a felony theft conviction and a possession of a weapon by a previous offender and illegal hunting conviction. Noel subsequently barricaded himself in the residence and would not respond to calls for him to come out.

SWAT was activated at about 11:15 a.m. and established a staging area. Negotiations were successful and Noel surrendered himself without further incident at about 12:20 p.m. In addition to the warrants, deputies arrested Noel on four new allegations of possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
