Wellington has an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of families and children in this community. The Wellington Community Park would be an amazing asset to this community and I am for whatever it takes to get it done.
There are so many studies out now about how our children are not getting the outdoor time that they need for their development. It is critical to provide opportunities for them to move their bodies through space and learn to move with balance and coordination — all things that video games and technology don’t provide.
The value of physical activity and outdoor time is just as important as learning to read and having a park with playground equipment that challenges motor skills and motor planning would benefit children of all abilities. The park would also be a place to gather and socialize.
The plans look spectacular to me and it would be a shame not to see it through.
