Long Draw Road, located towards the top of the Poudre Canyon, has opened for the month of July. Conditions have kept the road closed until now. Hazardous tree removal continues to take place, so visitors can expect delays and a changed landscape.
During the month of July, visitors can access the Long Draw and Grandview campgrounds. These campgrounds are the only place camping is allowed. The Trap Lake Trailhead and fishing at Long Draw Reservoir are also accessible. Parking in some areas may be very limited.
Visitors need to use caution as hazardous tree removal work continues to take place in the area. Logging trucks and equipment are in use throughout the area. There will be flaggers on the road when work is taking place and there could be delays up to 30 minutes throughout the week and weekends. No trailers are allowed on the Peterson Lake Road.
Long Draw Road will close again in August while even more hazardous tree removal work is done, but is anticipated to reopen in September. Information on the status of roads is available on the Canyon Lakes Roads Status website at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/roads.
