State senator to talk about health care issues in Fort Collins

State Sen. Dr. Irene Aguilar, D-Denver, will speak in Fort Collins on Oct. 1, the first stop on a statewide tour. Aguilar will talk about health care legislation she plans to introduce in the next legislative session.

The program, sponsored by Health Care for All Colorado, is planned for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Coloradoan Community Room, 1300 Riverside Ave. The public is welcome to attend.

Aguilar was selected by her party to fill the State Senate seat vacated by Chris Romer last year when he ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Denver. She now represents Senate District 32.

In the 2011 session, Aguilar sponsored Senate Bill 168, which called for the design of a health care cooperative for Colorado. The bill, co-sponsored by Rep. John Kefalas, D-Fort Collins, did not make it out of the Senate before the legislature adjourned.
