Free mulch from the site of the Woodward Technology Center campus is now available on a first-come, first-served basis at the City’s Streets Crushing Operations at 1380 Hoffman Mill Road courtesy of Mortenson Construction.
About 750 cubic yards of mulch — roughly 30 semi-truckloads — will be available to the public at no charge. Mulch will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis until it is all gone. There is no limit on how much you can take — if you can haul it, you can have it. Notice will be posted at fcgov.com/woodward when supplies are depleted.
Mulch will be available during the Streets Crushing Operations facility regular operating hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The public will not be able to pick up mulch when Crushing Operations is closed. Hoffman Mill Road is parallel to Riverside Avenue. To get to the Streets facility, take Poudre River Drive east of Lemay Avenue. Poudre River Drive turns into Hoffman Mill Road.
It is recommended residents bring a tarp or cover to secure the mulch once it has been loaded to prevent scattering. Staff at the facility will be on hand to help with large loads of mulch using a front-end loader. For smaller loads, please bring your own shovel and be ready to scoop!
Mortenson has begun construction on the new 101-acre Woodward headquarters on the site of the former Link-N-Greens golf course between Lincoln Avenue and Mulberry Street south of Lemay Avenue. The site will undergo major transformation for the next two years with initial construction work this fall contained largely to the site’s interior. The Poudre Trail through the site will remain closed through spring so the City can work on river restoration adjacent to the property. For more information, go to fcgov.com/woodward.
