Open-fire ban rescinded for Fort Collins city limits

The Poudre Fire Authority Fire Chief has ordered that emergency ordinance banning all burning within city limits be rescinded as of July 10. The ordinance was enacted on June 26.

Although fire danger still remains, it is lower than the extreme levels seen within the past few weeks. At the time of the ordinance our community was experiencing severe drought conditions not seen since 2002 and the most destructive wildfire in state history up to that point in time. The recent rains and prediction of cooler, wetter weather and fuel moisture levels were all factors in the decision to rescind the ban.

Fireworks are still illegal to use and possess within city limits.
