Last year the Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association board of directors approved the retirement of $2.5 million in allocated capital credits from 1999 and 2011. Customers who received service from Poudre Valley REA in those years, and accumulated retired credits of $25 or more, received a check in the mail in September 2012.
Poudre Valley REA was unable to return $274,368 to 5,087 of its members because of bad addresses on file or members who simply did not cash the check.
If you were a customer of Poudre Valley REA during 1999 or 2011 look for your name in the capital credits notice (PDF). If your name is on the list, give Poudre Valley REA a call so they can determine if you have money coming to you.
Contact Poudre Valley REA at P.O. Box 272550, Fort Collins, CO 80527-2550 or call 800-432-1012.

Hmm, wonder if they will actually send the refunds. We tried our hardest to obtain our deceased mother’s refund – death certificate, the whole nine yards – and it was a no go. Hope others have a better experience than we did.
