Red Feather Lakes Community Library update for Feb. 2013

Our condolences to the family of Herb Cooper, an area resident for several years who recently passed away. He will be missed.

By Creed Kidd, Library Director

We’d like to invite you to visit the library when in the Red Feather Lakes area. The winter months tend to be less busy –- and consequently there’s sufficient time and space to leisurely browse the books, AV materials or use a library laptop –- or perhaps bring your own portable device in, taking advantage of the library’s wireless access. We offer wireless access 24/7 available both within the library and in the library parking lot. No password required. For those with an ethernet-compatible device we also offer wired access in the building that has the advantages of being faster and more secure than wireless.

Through the winter we are a full-service library with full three-season hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (summers we close an hour later in the evening). Also, as the publishers of books, books on CD and DVD are releasing new materials on a weekly basis, we are purchasing weekly as well. Because of shipping issues we can’t exactly match the laydown dates of the big box stores –- but you’ll find new items on our shelves within a few days of general release.

In the last several weeks we’ve received new items by Sue Grafton, Tom Clancy, Stuart Woods, Stephen Hunter, Janet Evanovich, Norah Roberts and Traci Peterson. We’re looking ahead to such new, in-demand releases as Downtown Abbey season 3 on DVD, and books by Dr. Phil McGraw, Beverly Lewis and (a month or so out) C. J. Box.

Also, we take your requests individually and seriously. New on the shelf, thanks to specific requests are the Doc Martin series (seasons 1-4) on DVD and soon-to-be received copies of 30 Rock season 5 and season 6.

Don’t forget –- membership in the Friends of the Library, the fundraising arm of the library –- starts at $10 per year and allows you to assist us in assisting you and other members of our community. The membership period runs from June to June annually: [email protected].
