The dog days of summer have arrived. Here’s a selection of the entertainment possibilities not too far from home. Enjoy!

For a really good laugh, don’t miss the final few performances of The Farce Awakens by the Mostlies, a much-lauded local group that writes their own scripts and doesn’t hesitate to make fun of most anything. “The more things change, the more they stay the same,” is the theme of this year’s show. Magnolia Theatre, 7 p.m. through Aug. 2. Also at the Lincoln Center in the Magnolia Theatre, The Game’s Afoot, a zany mystery with all sorts of twists and turns, presented by Encore! Encore! Aug. 7-16.

The Hunting Film Tour comes to the Lincoln Center Aug. 19 at 7 p.m., Magnolia Theatre with conservation and fair-chase films, stories and laughs. General admission. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Opera Fort Collins Guild offers Songs of Summer, a musical soiree with drinks and hors d’oeuvres followed by a performance of arias, show tunes and musical stylings, 6-8:30 p.m. in the garden of Gary and Carol Ann Hixon, 3035 W. County Road 38E, at the curve, a mile west of Taft Hill Road. The public is invited to this event, a fundraiser for the Opera Guild in support of the company’s 36th season. The Wellington Farmers Market is open Thursday nights 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Centennial Park, Third Street and Harrison Avenue through Oct. 22. Fruit, veggies, meat, honey and sauces, baked goods snacks and popcorn, jewelry, crafts, body and wellness items and lots of friendly faces.

Oklahoma is showing at Midtown Arts Center through Aug. 29. Now might be a good time to consider season tickets to Midtown Arts Center, 3750 South Mason St. in Fort Collins.
