Rock Springs police find young Fort Collins girl reported missing Aug. 8

Vanecia “Feather” Gonzales, the two-year-old girl reported missing Aug. 8, was located safe in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The child’s mother, Vanessa “Ferda” Gonzales, and a male companion, Antonio Solis Martinez, are being detained by authorities there.

On August 10, the Rock Springs police department received word from a local Wal-Mart store of a suspicious circumstance involving a young girl. Officers were unable to locate the girl or her mother at the store, but reviewed surveillance video and identified Feather, missing from Larimer County since August 5.

Further investigation led officers to 300 Dayton Drive in Rock Springs, Wyoming, where they were able to recover Feather safely. The two adult individuals have been placed in custody pending extradition to Colorado on numerous felony charges resulting from the alleged kidnapping of the girl.

Detailed charges are pending further investigation and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office.
