Training for restoration crew leaders in Rist Canyon Sept. 1

Wildlands Restoration Volunteers will hold a full-day training for Crew Leaders in Ecological Restoration in Rist Canyon on Sept. 1. Anyone participating in the training will be required to sign up to lead a crew on at least one High Park Fire restoration project in 2012 or 2013.

The Crew Leader Training is specifically geared toward post-fire restoration, including hands-on practice with the proper tools for erosion control, seeding and mulching, as well as leadership and crew management skills. The minimum age to participate is 16; volunteer training fee is $25.

WLRV has already scheduled two community restoration projects in Rist Canyon, on Oct. 6 and 19. Both are also in need of volunteers.

To sign up for this training, or for more information, visit the WLRV website, call 970-493-2075, or e-mail [email protected].
