Season’s Greetings from the Wellington Public Library!
If you only come to the library one day this month, make it Jan. 18, our annual open house. Author Margaret Mizushima will be at the library for an author talk and book signing starting at 6:30 p.m. “Killing Trail” and “Stalking Ground,” the first two books of her Timber Creek K-9 series, are award winning mysteries. Please come meet this very talented author. All day long we will be serving cider (my special recipe) and hot chocolate along with cookies and mini muffins.

Also on Jan. 18 is our cardmaking class. Please call or stop by the library for details and to sign up. Cardmaking is fun and so easy and you end up with some beautiful cards to share with family and friends.
Storytimes are set for 11 a.m. on Jan. 10 and 24. the 10th and the 24th. Please join us for stories and crafts with your preschool age children.
So here we are staring at 2017 and wondering where the time went. I hope when you look back at 2016 you remember all the good times spent with friends and family. Maybe the memory of your holiday gathering is too fresh in your mind but given enough time I’m sure you will be able to look fondly back on it, or at least without shuddering. My mom had a health issue two years ago and has spent the following year seeing doctors and taking chemotherapy. She finished chemotherapy a year ago this month and has had good reports ever since. I’m relating this personal story because of what she told me the other day. She said, “that every year after those years is a blessing.” And she has really lived this past year with that in mind. She greets her friends with pure joy, plays with her great grandkids as if she was one of them and always has time for who ever shows up at her door or calls her. She has always been one of the kindest people I have ever known, but now I see a calmness to her. I’d like to think I can learn from her not to rush thru my life as if it were a race or at least like I’m not on fire. She spends her days enjoying her life as if every day was a precious gift, and when you think of it; it is.
Please come by and enjoy the lovely seasonal decorating that Deb Olson has done for the library. It is beautiful. We hope you are enjoying the wonders of the holiday season and we thank you for using your public library.
