Tucked in the corner of the shopping center on Horsetooth and Shields is a lovely neighborhood bar, Pappy’s Pub. Pappy’s has recently come under new management. Jeff Miller bought the pub in January of 2015.
“It was a good opportunity at a good price,” Miller said.
Miller has had a lot of experience with the bar industry. He started out as a bartender and has worked through every position in the industry and knows how each work very well. He has owned or managed 26 different bars in 40 years in Colorado, Reno, Seattle and Portland. The restaurant and bar industry is a big part of Miller’s life.
“Its not work for me, it’s a passion. I parlay that passion in the way I deal with my staff as well as my customers,” he said.
Pappy’s is a family friendly pub with great food and great prices. They have breakfast specials Wednesday through Sunday and daily drink specials including $7.55 domestic pitchers on Monday. Aiming for a family friendly environment, Pappy’s works hard to create a neighborhood bar feel for everyone who comes in.
“We try to make sure everyone here is comfortable to handle their customers, to help their people enjoy their visit here. It’s not just about coming here and getting good food and getting a beer. You come here because your server or your bartender had a lot of fun with you and you’ll come back to see them. The food and drink are a bonus on top of that,” Assistant Manager, Len Espinoza, said.
With such a saturated bar market, Pappy’s sets themselves apart from the crowd. Pappy’s has live music every Friday and Saturday night from 8pm to 11pm, playing mostly classic rock with the occasional country and modern rock. They also have trivia every Tuesday night at 7pm, where you can play for your bar tab. A DJ comes in once a month to play ‘80s music for ‘80s night. Music videos were such a big part of the ‘80s; he also projects the music video corresponding with the song onto TVs.
For the summer, they have plans to refinish their patio and make the tiki bar on the patio a fully functioning bar. They want it to be a fresh and new presentation of the pub. They boast that they have one of the best patios in town and it is definitely true, it is large and just perfect for a relaxing summer night out with friends.
Next time you want to grab a beer with your friends, come down to your new favorite neighborhood bar. Enjoy their amazing patio and take in the enjoyable atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. For more information go to: pappyscornerpub.com
