Fort Collins City Manager Darin Atteberry has signed a declaration to lift the City’s Response Level 1 water restrictions, effective June 1. The decision was based on additional water supplies that have become available since restrictions were implemented April 1.
Due to the recent increase in mountain snowpack in our region, the City now has additional Horsetooth Reservoir supplies. The increased water supply allows the City to:
· Meet 2013 water demands, even with a hot, dry summer, without using water from the fire-impacted Poudre River
· Achieve the carryover goal to have approximately 7,500 acre-feet of water (30 percent of annual demand) stored in the Colorado-Big Thompson Project for use in 2014.
Although the restrictions are being lifted, the City’s wasting water code will continue to be enforced. All efforts to conserve water are strongly encouraged.
