Allstate employees around the country coordinated volunteerism projects as a part of Allstate’s first Week of Service on Aug. 6-10.
Allstate employees and agents in Colorado volunteered at the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department on Aug. 7. Employees and agents helped by filling sandbags, cleaning out the bays, cleaning the fire trucks, testing equipment and organizing the station. Allstate also contributed $10,000 to the department from The Allstate Foundation as a way to help the department rebuild after the devastating High Park Fire.
In addition to the Week of Service, Allstate honors the community service of our employees with grant programs that provide financial support to the nonprofits they serve. In 2011, The Allstate Foundation supported the volunteerism of employees and agency owners with more than $2 million in grants to local nonprofit organizations.

I will admit, it was a good thing for Allstate to donate $10K and for their employees to donate time to help the Fire Department. I commend them for doing so!
However, in my opinion, I believe the BEST way Allstate could help the survivors of the Colorado Wildfires is to pay the policy limits to their insured that have lost their homes without any debate or hassle.
As nice as a new Teddy Bear is… a check will always be more helpful.
