American Legion Post 4 recognized for assisting veterans

American Legion Post 4 was recently recognized by the Colorado State American Legion Department with numerous awards. These awards were the result of many people volunteering their time at the post for the good of the American Legion and good of the community.
Post 4 was awarded the Judge Wilber Alter Award for most outstanding veterans assistance and rehabilitation program in Category II size posts for the 2010-2011 year.
This award recognized the many different ways that Post 4 has helped veterans in need of assistance. In additon to being recognized for its newsletter and website, the post and auxiliary unit also received recognition for outstanding achievement in Americanism and community service which included children and youth programs.
American Legion Post 4, located at 2124 County Road 54G (old Hwy. 287), just west of Taft Hill, holds fund-raising breakfasts that are open to the public 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Sunday. Proceeds benefit local veterans and youth programs. Cost is $5 per person.
