Noosa Finest Yoghurt announced Oct. 22 it was awarded two coveted “Best Yogurt” awards in the recent World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest, catapulting the Bellvue company’s farm fresh, Aussie goodness to world-renown status. Noosa brand manager Scott Larson accepted the award at a banquet last week in Madison, Wisc.
“We are so proud of these awards from judges and industry colleagues who really know a good yogurt when they taste one,” Larson said. “We’re proud of our local roots, using local ingredients like our milk and honey. We’ve never strayed from our mission of making delicious, delectable yogurt, and we appreciate the recognition.”
The awards recognize two of the flavors introduced by Noosa this year. Noosa coconut received a score of 99 out of 100 for its flavor and texture. Judges gave Noosa pineapple a 98.25 score. The Wisconsin Dairy Products Association, which hosted and organized the awards, received a record number of entries with more than 1,000 interested in snagging the sought-after awards.
Other awards are being stacked in the Bellvue headquarters’ trophy case. Noosa pumpkin recently won the World Dairy Innovation Award for “Best Yogurt”, and Coconut also is a 2014 “Editors’ Pick” from the team at industry publication, Progressive Grocer. Just last week, Noosa co-founder Koel Thomae accepted the “Best Young Business” award from Naturally Boulder on behalf of the company.
In addition to the coconut, pineapple and pumpkin flavors, the Noosa family has 10 other varieties. All are crafted daily in small batches on-site at Morning Fresh Dairy Farm in Bellvue and are free of artificial ingredients of any kind. Noosa yogurts are also gluten-free and made from the milk of happy cows from local Colorado farms that are never treated with rBGH bovine growth hormone.
