Final Environmental Impact Statement released for Middle Bald area communication site

The Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Middle Bald Area Communication Site and Draft Record of Decision is now available online at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/middlebald, which begins the objection period. The project is aimed at improving communication in northwestern portions of Larimer County.

Public scoping for this project began in September 2012. Following that, additional field work was done to address concerns raised during both internal and external scoping. The EIS considers three alternatives in detail, including the no action alternative, the proposed action alternative on Middle Bald Mountain and the preferred alternative at the newly-identified Killpecker location. The EIS also addresses comments received during the official comment period.

Objections must be filed by midnight on Dec. 1, and only those individuals and organizations who submitted written comments during the 45-day comment period in 2014 may file an objection.
