Crystal Lakes dam dedication planned

Completion of the Lower Lone Pine Lake expansion project, a massive undertaking that took nearly 20 years, will be celebrated at a dam dedication event at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at Crystal Lakes.

Crystal Lake Community Manager, Gwen Cook, would like to invite the public to attend. Lower Lone Pine Lake was enlarged from a capacity of 10.5 acre feet to 100.5 acre feet. The enlargement raised the height of the existing dam by about 15 feet and increased the area of the lake from two acres to 6.4 acres. Approximately 50,000 cubic fill were used to enlarge the existing dam. Additional wetlands were created on the upstream portion of the reservoir project to replace wetland areas impacted or inundated by the enlargement.
