The Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest has completed pile burning for the 2012-2013 season. Firefighters were able to successfully burn 5,655 piles across the district. This included 45 large machine piles.
Although snows were less than average this year, firefighters were able to go where the snow was and continue our effort to remove these slash piles as the last step of our fuels reduction efforts.
