Residents of the Bellvue and LaPorte areas who have property near the gravel pit south of Highway 287 and east of Overland Trail are being encouraged to comment at a public hearing that will be held Monday, May 9 at 3 p.m. at the Larimer County Court House, 200 W. Oak St. in Fort Collins.
The public hearing will be about Hawkeye Ranch Investment Group’s request for a special review from the county to grant a five-year extension for the commencement of a mining operation on the gravel pit property.
According to Northern Colorado Stained Glass Supply owner Ruth Wallick, expansion of this gravel pit has been under consideration and a topic of local concern for several years. Nearby residents have concerns about the number of trucks that may be using area roads and the congestion and pollution that may result.
Citizens can also send comments to Rob Helmick, Larimer County Planning Department, at [email protected] or P.O. Box 1190, Fort Collins, CO 80522. Helmick can be reached by phone at 970-498-7682.
