Saturday is CSU Ag Day at Hughes Stadium

Up to 3,500 Colorado State University students, alumni and friends are expected at the 31st annual Ag Day, Saturday, Sept. 22. The event takes place from 1:30 – 4 p.m., on the south side of Hughes Stadium off Overland Trail in Fort Collins, just before the 5 p.m. kickoff of the CSU Rams-Utah State Aggies football game.

Colorado’s leading commodity groups partner with CSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences to plan the event and provide the Ag Day feast. This year’s menu includes Colorado beef, pork, lamb, potatoes, beans, wheat and dairy products, green salad, watermelon and drinks. Live music will be provided by local band Better Than Bacon.

Other Ag Day highlights include:
• Farm-themed activities for kids.
• Farm displays.
• CSU agricultural student groups. These include the ever-popular Gillette Entomology Club, which will provide hands-on bug activities as part of the club’s 100th anniversary celebration this year.
• A pre-game visit from the CSU Marching Band.

All this Ag Day fun has a purpose. In 2012-13, 20 CSU students studying a wide range of agricultural disciplines received scholarships supported by funds raised through Ag Day.

Tickets for the Ag Day barbecue cost $16.50 each and may be purchased with or without football tickets.
