A day of fun is set for this Saturday at Western Ridge Resort in Livermore, with a silent auction that opens at 8 a.m. and a full buffet meal for $10 per person that starts at noon.
It’s all to benefit Charlie Porter, the Red Feather Lakes resident severely injured in a one-car rollover on Creedmore Lake Road at the end of January.
“The donations keep coming in for the auction,” said Linda Weixelman, owner of the Beaver Meadows Ranch Resort, where Porter works as maintenance manager, and co-sponsor of the event.
Items that have been donated as of Monday include fine art, homemade quilts and afghans, restaurant gift certificates, gift baskets containing everything from memorabilia from the Pond Hockey League to local merchandise, overnight stays at Beaver Meadows and the Hilton Fort Collins, horseback rides, disc golf passes and more. The auction and buffet will close at 6 p.m. Bidders can check on the status of their bid by phone throughout the day and must pick up their items on Sunday at Western Ridge, located about a half-hour north of Fort Collins.
“It should be a nice day for a drive in the mountains,” Weixelman said. “Cisco has donated plenty of food for the buffet, and people are welcome to drop by any time during the day.”
As of Monday, the online donation page at www.giveforward.com/teamporter had raised nearly $3,800 toward Porter’s medical expenses. He had no health insurance at the time of the accident. He remains in the Life Skills Rehabilitation Unit at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, after two weeks in the intensive care unit at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. His wife, Lorna, also works at Beaver Meadows; they have two children, Ashleigh, 3, and Alex, 15, a student at Poudre High School. His parents, Lee and Steve Porter, live in Livermore.
An account in Charlie Porter’s name has also been established at the Warren Federal Credit Union at 7670 Fifth St. in Wellington.
