Travis Bruner and Peter Harris: On The Shoot

If you like old-timey simple songs than this is the album for you. Travis Bruner and Peter Harris are a two part team with an eclectic grouping of guitars and a bass. To sum up the album they play easy blues riffs that have been used through the ages and their lyrics are uncomplicated. You are introduced to the album with a simple song with simple toe-tapping twang. The first several songs are slow to begin with and simple… have I said that too much? They pick it up and draw away from the woe-is-me type songs in Track 5 “You Have A Way”, but then immediately go back to a slower paced blues riff. All in all, you can’t deny that the duo has talent, however it’d be nice to hear something a little different throughout their entire album. Something a little more bouncy instead of a sort of hopeless lullaby. – Amy Schakel
