In this update I promise a little something for everyone. For you procrastinators,it’s not too late to send out those holiday cards or to make those New Year’s resolutions. Maybe you already fell off the resolution bandwagon. You can get back on and no one would be the wiser.
For you people who are already ahead — you’ve filed your taxes, taken down your Christmas lights, and organized your closets — I’ll bet you haven’t planned your garden or scheduled your meals for the rest of the year.
Melissa is making her way thru one of our newest cookbooks, “Better Homes and Gardens Year-round Slow Cooker Recipes.” We also have Rachael Ray’s newest cookbook, “My Year in Meals”. For the gardener, we have a great selection of gardening books. These books can help you plan this spring’s garden; something fun to do on a cold winter day. We also have new books on decorating ideas and jewelry making.
This is a great time of year to get outside and take photos. Kim here at the library is known to her friends and family as a great photographer; and we have books to help you brush up on your photography technics. After the spell of cold weather we had, I’ve been reading books about home improvement and especially about insulating your home.
Winter reading seems to be more on the heavier non-fiction side; whereas summer is about a good light beach book. You’ll see a lot more non-fiction books and classics being read during the winter months. One of the great things about our E-books is you don’t even have to get out into the cold. You can down load an available book from our online catalog wellington.colibraries.org, which has 3M books or Oneclickdigital. Oneclickdigital has Kindle capabilities. You will need your 14-digit library card number. Please call us at 970-568-3040 to help you with your password.
In the children’s area we will need your help with our display. The display will be an interactive ABC wall. For each letter of the alphabet we will have a box. Please bring in an item that starts with that letter and it will become part of our display. We will mark your item with your name and phone number so they can be returned to you after February.
Storytimes are Feb. 12 and 26 at 11 a.m. The Feb. 12 storytime will be all about Valentine’s Day and Feb. 26 will be butterflies. Please join us for stories and crafts. The glitter and glue sticks will be at the ready.
The library will be closed on Feb. 18 in honor of President’s Day.
