BLACK HEARTS BALL SET FOR FEBRUARY 12

| By Dawn Duncan |

This year, Valentine’s Day is getting a new twist with the first Black Hearts Ball, presented by Scene Magazine and Downtown Artery. This steampunk themed event is the result of wanting to create an all-inclusive party around Valentine’s Day and one that would focus on friends coming together for live music, rather than the traditional couple-oriented activities of the holiday. This is not a couples-only event, it’s a party for the masses and people of all lifestyles are welcome. The event will feature DJ Avalon to kick off the night, followed by Euro-punk/art rock darlings, Stella Luce.
Additionally, there is a “Brewer Auction” that will take place, featuring three male brewers and one female brewer from the area being auctioned o in a live bidding war that will result in winners being awarded a date with the brewer. All of the proceeds from this portion of the event will be donated to SAVA, the Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center that is located in Fort Collins.
SAVA works 24/7 to help those a affected by sexual assault, including offering a 24 hour hotline, counseling and outreach services, in addition to year-round education the public on topics related to rape, abuse, and helping those in need of services.
The night will conclude with the crowning of a king and queen. Using the old-fashioned type of Valentine’s Day boxes we knew as kids, nominations will be written on cards and placed in the designated king and queen boxes. A card will be pulled from each and the royal winners will be crowned. Anyone in attendance at the event is eligible for nominations and the win will be strictly based on the luck of the draw.
Tickets: $12 individual or $20 per couple. Each ticket holder receives one drink ticket, good for a beer or a house wine. Available online at: ticketfly.com.
Date/Time/Location: Friday, February 12, 2016, 7 pm, Downtown Artery, 252 Linden Street, Fort Collins.
