Letter: Gilliland for County Commissioner

Editor:

I am Kathy Gilliland and I am running for Larimer County Commissioner.

Community Message

In my previous service as Loveland mayor, and as an advocate for transportation, open space and workforce development, I have always sought input from all sides to reach decisions. We need a county government that listens and that means we need a county commissioner who will step up to the responsibility, take action and fight for our quality of life.

Unfortunately, the commission’s current relationship with the county is neither inclusive, transparent nor strong enough to allow citizens a voice in our government. As county commissioner, I will insist that our discussions be open to all Larimer communities and residents.

We face tough challenges. How will we reach the best decisions on critical transportation corridors, economic development, oil and gas drilling, long-term water management and natural disaster preparedness?

As commissioner, I’ll take the responsibility to promote a business climate that creates living-wage jobs. I’ll take action to make sure that there are roads and other transportation modes sufficient to support business and to assist those who cannot drive. I’ll fight to protect the future of agriculture and to make sure that your grandchildren will have access to parklands, rivers and streams, and open space that define our quality of life.

If you want a county commissioner who will step up to the responsibility, take action and fight for our quality of life, then you want me, Kathy Gilliland to be your next county commissioner!
