Months-long investigation leads to arrest tied to pellet gun damage exceeding $15,000
A Fort Collins man is in custody following a months-long investigation into a series of incidents involving vehicles being struck by a pellet gun, causing significant property damage and raising safety concerns across the community.
Fort Collins Police Services report that officers executed a search warrant on March 26 in the 300 block of South Shields Street, where they arrested 55-year-old Jamal Lohrius. Investigators also seized multiple firearms, ammunition, and related accessories from the residence as part of the operation.
Police say the investigation stems from at least 12 reported incidents in which moving vehicles were targeted, resulting in more than $15,000 in damage. Authorities believe additional victims may not have come forward and are encouraging anyone who may have experienced similar damage in the area to contact Detective Al Wilson at 970-416-2923 or [email protected].
Lohrius was booked into the Larimer County Jail on one count of felony criminal mischief and 12 counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment. He is currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
Investigators noted that additional safety concerns prompted a warrant addendum authorizing officers to seize all known firearms and ammunition from the property.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
